In what looks to be a high-profile home season after a long absence, Zimbabwe will host South Africa and New Zealand. The two Test matches between South Africa and Zimbabwe will begin with the African match. The Proteas will play a red-ball in Zimbabwe for the first time since 2014.
With an eye toward the World Cup the following year, the play then switches to T20Is. South Africa, Zimbabwe, and New Zealand will all face each other twice in the T20I tri-series. This will be the nation’s first T20I tri-series since Australia and Pakistan visited in 2018.
Zimbabwe battles the Black Caps in two Test matches as the season comes to a close.
Harare will host the tri-series, while Bulawayo will host all of the season’s Test matches.
Give more Makoni, managing director of Zimbabwe Cricket, expressed hope that this potentially historic home season will help improve the sport in the nation.
“Hosting South Africa and New Zealand for both Test cricket and an exciting T20I tri-series is a fantastic development for the growth of the game in Zimbabwe,” Makoni stated.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the teams and putting on a great spectacle for our passionate cricket fans.”
