Zimbabwe will host five Twenty20 Internationals for India in July.

In July 2024, India will go to Zimbabwe to play a five-match Twenty20 International series against Sikandar Raza and Co. The Harare Sports Club in Harare is the venue for all five games.

June 2 marks the start of the T20 World Cup in 2024, and June 29 is set aside for the summit match. The ‘Men in Blue’ will travel to Zimbabwe to play a bilateral series against the African country for the first time in two years following their performance in the major tournament.

The schedule for the series was revealed on Tuesday, February 6, by Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The games are scheduled for July 6, 7, 10, 13, and 14.

Zimbabwe Cricket said in a statement that the series has been scheduled following productive talks with the BCCI.

“The confirmation of this tour comes after productive discussions between ZC and the BCCI, with the primary objective of fortifying bilateral ties and fostering a spirit of collaboration between the two cricketing boards,” the ZC said in its statement.

ZC Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani praised the cricket-mad nation of India for its commitment to the game and voiced his joy that India had consented to play the series.

“We are ecstatic to be welcoming India to our home for a Twenty20 International Series in July, which will be our largest foreign draw of the year. In a statement from ZC, Mukuhlani stated, “I would like to say a huge thank you to the BCCI for committing to tour Zimbabwe once again. The game of cricket has always benefited immensely from India’s influence and dedication to the sport.”

“We are working nonstop to re-establish ourselves as a force to be reckoned with at the highest level of the game, so the significance and magnitude of this tour cannot be overemphasized,” he continued.

Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, stated that the organization has always made an effort to support the cricket community worldwide and that it is prepared to assist other member boards in advancing the game to new heights.

“The BCCI has always made significant contributions to the international cricket community in a trailblazing manner. We are aware that Zimbabwe is going through a reconstruction phase, and right now, Zimbabwe Cricket needs our help. Our unwavering dedication to traveling and assisting other member boards is consistent with our mission to effect good change in the cricket industry.

The BCCI will make every effort to strengthen and improve the commercial viability of bilateral cricket. We have a common goal for the development and success of cricket on the global scene, and that goal is reflected in our commitment to support Zimbabwe Cricket,” said Shah.

During their most recent visit to Zimbabwe in 2022, India easily defeated the African country in a three-match ODI series. That tour saw Shubman Gill make his first ODI century and finish as the series’ highest run scorer, earning him the title of Player of the Series.
