Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg-spinner, spent a considerable amount of time in the mix to join India’s team for the 2018 ODI World Cup. In the just-completed Asia Cup, the team management preferred Axar Patel over him, and when the left-arm spinner was forced to withdraw due to injury, they opted to replace him with the more experienced Ravichandran Ashwin, leaving Chahal out of the running.
When asked about his unlucky omission, Yuzvendra Chahal said that he was used to it because it had happened to him previously as well. The 33-year-old noted that while he is disappointed by his exclusion, he is aware that the team can only choose 15 players for the competition.
“I understand that only fifteen players can be a part, because it’s a World Cup, where you can’t take 17 or 18,” Chahal said earlier this week to Wisden India. “I do feel a little bad, but I always try to get up and go.” Since there have been three World Cups, I’ve become accustomed to it, Chahal said, according to Wisden.

Yuzvendra Chahal signed with Kent to play three games in the current County Championship in order to be active and available. The spinner stated that he had always wanted to play cricket and had so chosen to represent Kent in addition to trying to fulfill his desire to represent India in red-ball cricket.
“I wanted to play cricket someplace, so that’s why I came here to Kent to play. I have an opportunity to play red ball here, and I really want to do so for India. Consequently, I had a positive experience. Since you can practice as much in the nets as you like, but a match is a match, the coaches I spoke with were pleased that I was playing somewhere. I’m learning a lot here while playing at a very high level in the top division for County, he continued.
