Yuzvendra Chahal, an Indian leg-spinner, has signed a contract with Kent for the remainder of the County Championship season, pending regulatory certification. Chahal will be eligible for three of Kent’s games: the home games against Nottinghamshire and Lancashire, as well as the away game against Somerset. Chahal was not selected for the current Asia Cup or the forthcoming home ODI World Cup.
Playing in English county cricket presents a great challenge for me, and I’m looking forward to it, according to Chahal. After left-arm bowler Arshdeep Singh, who played for Kent in June and July, the spinner is the second Indian to play for Kent in the County Championship this year.
The hiring of Yuzvendra Chahal was praised by Kent’s director of cricket Paul Downton, who noted that Hamid Qadri was injured and that Kent wouldn’t have Matt Parkinson’s services until next year.
Given that Hami Qadri just sustained an injury and that Matt Parkinson won’t be available to us until next year, Downton stated, “We’re delighted to have secured a spinner of Yuzvendra’s quality for the last three Championship matches of the season.”
“He will bring a great amount of skill and international experience to our group,” the coach continued. “He is particularly looking forward to playing in English conditions.
