Yuvraj Singh, a distinguished Indian cricket star, has confirmed that he will play in the World Championship of Legends’ second season, which is set to begin in the UK in July. In the first edition of the competition, the renowned all-rounder led the Indian team to a championship victory, demonstrating outstanding leadership.
Shikhar Dhawan, an experienced opening batsman who retired from international cricket last year, will be joining Yuvraj Singh in his tournament debut.
Yuvraj Singh stated, “I’m looking forward to representing our nation at the World Championship of Legends again,” in reference to leading India once more in the second iteration of the WCL T20 event, which is supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). I will always cherish the memories I have of my teammates and our triumph in the tournament’s inaugural edition.
Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, and numerous other Indian cricketing legends gave incredible performances at the previous World Championship of Legends, demonstrating that their love for the game is still very much alive and well.
As Indian cricket fans saw their heroes perform powerfully on the major stage, the competition swiftly gained international attention.
“I’ve always seen this tournament as a way forward for cricket to have its future through its senior cricketers,” said Harshit Tomar, founder of the World Championship of Legends, in describing his vision for the competition.
Seeing cricket’s own heroes reenact the same magic that made them timeless has been gratifying and fulfilling. We are passionate about our cricket heroes, and we have always aimed to host them with the utmost care and skill,” he continued.
Nishant Pitti, Chief Patron of WCL and Chairman & Founder of EaseMyTrip, added to the euphoria by expressing his delight for the league’s influence on international cricket. The World Championship of Legends honours the finest players in the sport and their lasting contributions; it is more than just a competition. We at EaseMyTrip are ecstatic to be a part of this incredible trip, which reunites cricket legends, reignites famous rivalries, and provides fans with a nostalgic yet fiercely competitive cricketing experience.
Top international players from Australia, the West Indies, England, Pakistan, and South Africa will face the India Champions, who are owned by Sumant Bahl, Salman Ahmed, and Jaspal Bahra, as they return to Edgbaston.
Sumant Bahl, co-owner of Team India Champions, stated, “Our journey of owning the legendary, working alongside the Legends, and lifting the inaugural editions’ trophy by beating arch rivals Pakistan is still like a dream come true. We are very excited about season 2 and are looking forward to repeating the history with the help of a stronger and better team this year.”
The WCL has been praised as a revolutionary competition that brings retired cricket greats back into the public eye and rekindles their passion of competition.
