One of cricket’s best southpaws, Yuvraj Singh, will play for India Masters in the International Masters League’s (IML) inaugural season, which runs from February 22 to March 16, 2025.
Known for his exploits and game-changing moments, Yuvraj was a key player in India’s 2007 win in the first-ever ICC T20 World Cup, where he famously smacked Stuart Broad for six sixes in a single over. He was named Player of the Tournament for his exceptional all-around performance at the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, where he also played a crucial role.
Speaking about his comeback to cricket with the India Masters squad, Yuvraj Singh remarked,
“Playing with Sachin and my colleagues is like going back to the good old days. It brings back so many memories to play with all of them. I think the IML is a celebration of the time that made Indian cricket great, and I’m excited to make more treasured memories for all of the supporters who have helped us along the way.”
Upul Tharanga of Sri Lanka and JP Duminy of South Africa will represent their respective countries in the IML, joining him as cricketing greats.
JP Duminy was renowned for his elegant stroke play, poise under duress, and effective off-spin bowling. Duminy was frequently the calming influence during pivotal moments with to his more than 9,000 international runs and leadership experience as South Africa’s T20 captain.
JP Duminy stated, “It is a great privilege to represent South Africa Masters in the first season of the International Masters League. Participating in a tournament among the game’s greatest players excites me. Cricket enthusiasts may be confident that the game they will watch will be thrilling and captivating.
Upul Tharanga, a stylish and reliable opener, amassed more than 9,000 runs for Sri Lanka in international competition. Frequently playing the anchor role and accelerating when needed, he took on the new ball with style to build strong foundations for his squad.
In response to his selection for the Sri Lanka Masters team, Tharanga said, “I am excited to play for Sri Lanka Masters in the first season of the International Masters League.
