Yuvraj Singh, a former Indian all-rounder, has supported his old teammate Hardik Pandya, despite the latter’s difficulties as captain and at bat for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2024 Indian Premier League. He believes that Pandya would perform exceptionally well in the future ICC T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies in 2024.
Leading Mumbai, Pandya had a miserable season as the five-time champions finished 10th in the standings after winning just four of their fourteen games. The all-rounder managed to collect just 11 wickets and score 216 runs at an average of 18,000, which was a terrible individual performance.
Yuvraj, though, believes Pandya’s success in the IPL shouldn’t be the only factor considered.
The fact that a decision has been made is a positive development. After evaluating a player’s performance in international cricket, selectors look at their IPL performance. Simply not in IPL format,” Yuvraj told the ICC.
“Because Hardik’s performance in the IPL is lacking. It’s crucial that he be in the team given his history and accomplishments for India, Yuvraj continued.

Pandya’s bowling and health for the World Cup are important factors that Yuvraj emphasized, as they will be critical for the Men in Blue in the major tournament.
“I believe that both his bowling ability and level of fitness will be crucial. The former all-rounder went on, “And I think he might do something really special in this World Cup.”
The former cricket player also discussed Shivam Dube’s contribution to this competition. Dube, who played primarily as a batsman for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), amazed everyone with his ability to close off games and hit massive sixes.

“I believe Shivam Dube performed admirably in his final Twenty20 series for India. And in the IPL, too, he has been incredibly reliable. I could tell he was in good shape, so having him in the squad made sense. It’s fantastic to have him in the Indian T20 team because, in my opinion, he can make a big difference in the middle order or lower middle order,” Yuvraj stated.
