With only 36 days left before the premier T20 cricket tournament in the world begins, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Indian star Yuvraj Singh as an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Ambassador.
Yuvraj will be present at a number of thrilling World Cup promotional events in the United States leading up to and during the T20 showpiece, including the eagerly awaited India versus Pakistan fixture in New York on June 9. Yuvraj is best known for hitting 36 runs in an over during the 2007 inaugural T20 World Cup, which he and India ultimately won.
The 2007 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champion, Yuvraj Singh, stated: “It’s really exciting to be part of this edition, which is going to be the largest one yet. Some of my best cricketing memories came from playing at the T20 World Cup, like hitting six sixes in an over.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the growth of cricket in the USA through the T20 World Cup. The West Indies is a great place to play cricket because of the fans who come to watch, creating a vibe that is completely unique to that part of the world.”

It’s an honour to be a part of and see the best players in the world play in a brand-new stadium for India’s match versus Pakistan in New York, which is expected to be one of the biggest athletic events of the year.
It’s a privilege to have Yuvraj as an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Ambassador, according to Claire Furlong, General Manager of Marketing & Communications for the ICC. He became the first player to knock six sixes in a T20 international, making his name synonymous with the T20 World Cup. This is one of the most memorable moments from the competition. Along with Usain Bolt and Chris Gayle, he is the first ambassador to be revealed. Together, they will all heighten the anticipation for what promises to be the greatest T20 World Cup ever.
The USA and Canada will play in the opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from June 1–29 at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. Twenty teams will compete in a total of 55 matches at nine different locations, with the Barbados final taking place on June 29.
South Africa, the 2014 champions, and Sri Lanka will square off in the stadium’s historic opening match on June 3rd. Ten teams will compete over eight matches in New York.
