Yusuf Pathan, a former cricket player for India, assisted a woman with a physical disability in boarding the aircraft at the Jeddah airport. According to HBNTV News, Pathan was seen speaking with the woman in photos that have been making the rounds online before helping her board the aeroplane that was headed to Mumbai.
Notably, in June 2024, the 42-year-old was sworn in as a member of parliament after winning the seat from West Bengal’s Baharampur constituency in the Lok Sabha. He became a member of Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) party and ran for office. He won his first election by defeating Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury by 85,022 votes.

After winning the election, Yusuf Pathan wrote on “X” that “Abba is proud and delighted that I have this chance to make a difference.”
Since he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League from 2011 to 2017, Pathan has developed strong ties to the city.
Because he is from Gujarat, there were concerns when the TMC declared that he would be running from the Baharampur constituency. To end the argument, he used Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an example. But the cricket player yelled, “Jai Hind, Jai Bangla, Jai Gujarat,” during the swearing-in ceremony.
According to the Times of India, Pathan stated, “What’s the problem if I contest from here (Bengal)? Narendra Modi is from Gujarat but runs from Varanasi.”
