Joe Root is scheduled to return to Yorkshire for the County Championship in 2024, following a two-year hiatus. In the second round of the Championship later this week, he is most likely to play against Gloucestershire. The 13-man roster featuring the top hitter from England has been revealed, and he will play in his first domestic match since The Hundred last year.
The cricketer chose to take a sabbatical after a two-month tour to India, therefore he missed the County Championship match against Leicestershire in Round One. He will compete in the last four championship rounds. After that, he’ll take another break before suiting up for the eighth game against Northamptonshire.
Harry Brook is also eligible for Yorkshire for the first five matches, in addition to Joe Root.
For personal reasons, the cricket player chose not to participate in the Indian Premier League or the tour against India, but he is still active in the Championship. The twenty-five-year-old scored 100* runs off 69 deliveries in the match against Leicestershire, but the score was tied at the finish.
Harry Brook will take a rest after participating in the first five Championship games with the hopes of being fit for the June 1 start of the T20 World Cup. In his 29 T20I appearances thus far, he has amassed 544 runs at a strike average of 144.68.

In terms of Root, the former captain of England was not at his best during the five-match series that the visitors lost 4-1 to India. As England prepares to host the West Indies and Sri Lanka later in the summer and then travel to Pakistan and New Zealand before the end of the year, the cricket player would aim to use the County matches to come back to form. In the interim, Yorkshire intends to employ the services of both cricket players in an attempt to advance to the tournament’s Division I.
