Former star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is one of the heroes that the Indian team has produced. The outstanding southpaw amassed 11,778 runs and claimed 148 wickets in 402 international appearances. Yuvraj undoubtedly contributed numerous game-winning knocks for the squad in a variety of formats.
One of the most inspirational stories is Yuvraj Singh’s cricketing path, in which he battled cancer and demonstrated great fortitude both on and off the pitch. Later on, he returned to the side as well.
In a group-stage encounter against the West Indies, where he struck a century and claimed a few wickets, Yuvraj had a spectacular run at the 2011 World Cup, which also marked the first time he displayed some signs of cancer. His father, Yograj Singh, a former cricket player for India, related many anecdotes of his fight with cancer.
Even if Yuvraj had lost his life on the pitch when his country won the cup, Yograj recently said he would still be proud of him.
“I would have been a proud father to our nation if Yuvraj Singh had won the World Cup and passed away from cancer. He continues to make me very proud. I have also informed him of this over the phone. Despite the blood he was spitting, I wanted him to play. I assured him that he wouldn’t die. On Unfiltered by Samdish, Yograj stated, “Winning this World Cup for India.”
As an ODI batter with an average of 0.50, Father Yograj also said that “I was a much better batsman than Yuvraj.”
The World Cup run of Yuvraj Singh dreams
During the 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj scored 362 runs in nine games, including four half-centuries and one century. It was one of the high points of his career. Throughout the competition, he averaged 90.50 and had a spectacular knock against Australia in the quarterfinals.
Yuvraj made contributions with the ball in addition to his batsmanship. He was the second-highest wicket-taker for India after Zaheer Khan, with 15 during the tournament. He had his greatest results against Ireland (5/31).
