In contrast to previous seasons, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), has not scored in any of the games played thus far in the ongoing IPL 2025. The player enjoys attacking the bowlers in the opening over, but he hasn’t yet mastered the rhythm. Notably, RR easily defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their last match.
Additionally, it was their first victory of the year. Jaiswal talked candidly about his experiences playing in the Indian Premier League and for the Indian cricket team. Despite their differences, both provided him with a wide range of experiences. Despite being a regular in red-ball cricket, the southpaw has not yet received the respect he merits in white-ball cricket. He disclosed that he prefers to stay “flexible” and “aware” of his surroundings.
“I now know a lot more. The IPL and Indian cricket provide entirely different experiences. The IPL offers a unique competitive environment, yet representing the nation has its own set of difficulties. Nonetheless, both modes offer great educational opportunities. I’ve learnt the value of flexibility by playing under pressure in several formats, including Test, One-Day, and Twenty20 cricket,” Yashasvi Jaiswal stated during an interview on Jio Hotstar.
For me, the most important lesson has been to maintain awareness, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to various circumstances as they come up. I’m loving the ride and always trying to improve as a player,” the 23-year-old continued.
It all boils down to your thinking, in my opinion: Yashasvi Jaiswal
Additionally, Yashasvi Jaiswal considered his approach to both forms over the years. It all came down to ‘knowing’ the game and having the right attitude for him. Jaiswal is an offensive player who has achieved success in Test cricket by sticking to his strategy.
“I think it all depends on your attitude, background, and knowledge of the game, as well as how much you value the team. The most important question for me is always: What is my team currently in need of? I adjust my strategy and play in a way that helps the team based on it. I shall attempt to score 15 runs off six balls if the circumstances call for it. I can play 50 balls and score 10 runs if that’s what I need to do,” Jaiswal said in closing.
