WATCH: Yashasvi Jaiswal sends ball flying on Perth street during India's practice session

The Indian team’s first group has arrived in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024–25). On November 10, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Sarfaraz Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar were spotted departing Mumbai for Australia.

Key players Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were among those who attended the net sessions at the WACA facility in Perth on November 12. Jaiswal appeared to be in fine form, batting most of the balls, but one of his blows sent the ball sailing, and it was discovered on the street next to the practice area. A photo of the ball that was discovered on the street has gone viral on social media.

Here’s the picture of the ball hit by Yashasvi Jaiswal:

Jaiswal just whacked it over the nets and onto the adjacent road. Luckily no cars or pedestrians around – the nearby school has just finished for the day pic.twitter.com/w8rt8HHVWI

People in that dressing room are really tough: Gambhir.

When India suffered their first-ever home defeat at the hands of New Zealand, the supporters were furious, especially since Gautam Gambhir had been the team’s head coach. There is now only one chance for Team India to go to the WTC final: they must win four of their five Border-Gavaskar Trophy matches. Gambhir, who has been the target of intense criticism, has downplayed the effect of the team’s transformation process due to their prior humiliations.

“I’m more concerned with the five Test matches than with transition. “If a transition is necessary, it will occur, but I see some really tough characters in that dressing room who are hungry to do well,” the Times of India (TOI) reported the Indian head coach to have said.

I don’t really consider the squad to be in transition or anything like that. I just think that we are going to Australia to play five Test matches, and there are some really tough guys in that dressing room who will do a lot of good things in the future,” Gambhir said.
