WTC 2023–25 Points Table: After Sri Lanka's win over England, a look at the most latest standings

Rankings for the 2023–25 ICC World Test Championship(WTC) took an unexpected turn following Sri Lanka’s historic eight-wicket victory over England in the series’ third and final Test, played at Kennington Oval.

Despite losing the first two Tests and taking just three wickets on the game’s first day in cloudy conditions, the Dhananjaya de Silva-led team turned the tide by defeating the hosts with a historic triumph.

Despite having played nine less matches than Pope and Co., the islanders overcame them in the standings on the basis of percentage of points (PCT) by chasing the highest fourth innings target in England since 2010. England’s current position can be primarily ascribed to its 19-point loss in the cycle thus far because of multiple over rate penalties.

After their historic 2-0 series victory on Pakistani turf, Bangladesh surged to fourth place in the nine-nation competition, while Pakistan dropped to eighth place.

With 16 games under their belt, England has participated in the most matches thus far in this cycle. With three Tests remaining against the Kiwis and one against Zimbabwe in the current cycle, England will need to step up if they hope to compete in the June 2025 World T20 final at Lord’s.
