For the remainder of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, UP Warriorz has signed young Australian batter Georgia Voll to replace Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu. In preparation for their March 4 tour of New Zealand, Athapaththu has withdrawn from the competition to return to his country’s duty with Sri Lanka.
For INR 30 lakh, the Australian batter joined the UP Warriorz. Her arrival strengthens the team as the Warriorz try to guarantee a postseason berth. In women’s cricket, Voll is among the most gifted young batters available. On December 5, 2024, at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane, she made her second ODI appearance against India and scored a century, capping an outstanding start to her international career.
Georgia Voll was also included in Australia’s Women’s Ashes series squad for 2025. On January 20, 2025, she played her first Twenty20 International match against England at Sydney Cricket Ground.
Georgia Voll scored 330 runs with an average of 30 and a strike rate of 144.73 in 12 games for the Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2024–25. She struck 45 fours and five sixes during the competition, recording two half-centuries.
Only the Gujarat Giants are higher in the standings than the UP Warriorz, who are now ranked fourth. Out of the five games they have played, the team captained by Deepti Sharma has won two and lost three. They began with back-to-back losses before winning back-to-back games. The Warriorz suffered a crushing defeat against the Mumbai Indians in their most recent game on Wednesday, February 26.
The Warriorz got off to a fantastic start thanks to a 26-ball 45 from star batswoman Grace Harris. The Warriorz were reduced to 142/9 in 20 overs, though, and the remaining batters were unable to capitalize. Mumbai easily won with three overs remaining and eight wickets taken, making the chase easy.
