A dream match would be a semifinal between India and Pakistan at Eden Gardens: Chief of the CAB, Snehasish Ganguly

The schedule for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has been released, and cricket fans can’t wait for the tournament to start on October 5. The World Cup will start on June 14 and finish on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan will take place at the same place on October 15.

Kolkata’s Eden Gardens will also host five games, including one semi-final, in the next edition. Due to unfinished construction work, it was unable to host big games like India’s match against England in the 2011 World Cup. Snehasish Ganguly, the head of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), said that preparations for the World Cup have already started after the IPL 2023 ends.

“The planning has begun. We started getting ready for the World Cup after the IPL was over. We’re making changes to the venue and the corporate boxes. Ground conditions are good. The ground will start getting ready on July 1. Our manager and we got together. Ganguly was described by NDTV as saying that Eden Gardens is ready to host the World Cup.

Snehasish Ganguly said about the pitch at the stadium that the crowd liked high-scoring games during the IPL, and they will try to keep that going. He also said that a semi-final between India and Pakistan would be a dream match to host.

India vs. Pakistan in the semifinals at Eden Gardens will be everyone’s first choice. Ganguly

“In IPL, everyone liked the games because there were a lot of goals and the pitch was in good shape. We will try to keep it up. This time, we tried to get a playoff match, and at the last minute, Eden gave us one. Everyone’s top choice will be a semifinal between India and Pakistan at Eden Gardens. It would be a dream match,” he said.

India’s semi-final game will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. But if their semi-final match is against Pakistan, it will be on November 16 at Eden Gardens. Aside from that, Kolkata will host Qualifier 1 vs. Bangladesh on October 28, Pakistan vs. Bangladesh on October 31, India vs. South Africa on November 5, and England vs. Pakistan on November 12.
