If we hadn’t won the World Cup in 2011, would I still be as excited? Maybe, maybe not: Shubman Gill

If we hadn't won the World Cup in 2011, would I still be as excited? Maybe, maybe not: Shubman Gill

He also said that if India hadn’t won the World Cup in 2011, he might or might not have been motivated. Shubman Gill, a rising star for the Gujarat Titans (GT), tried to downplay fans’ and experts’ comparisons of him to famous Indian players after his breakthrough season. The young opener has been playing well in all three versions, and he is now the owner of the Orange Cap in the current Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL). This season, the 23-year-old got 851 runs in 16 games, with an average of 60.78. He scored three hundred and four fifties. He also became the second Indian player after Virat Kohli to score 800 runs in a single IPL season.

Famous hitters like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have been compared to him because of how steady he plays. The 23-year-old says that Tendulkar and Kohli have been an inspiration to many young people of this age. He also thought about whether Sachin Tendulkar would have been born if India hadn’t won the World Cup in 1983.  He also said that the memories will live on forever and that no one can really explain what they are.

“All of these people—Sachin sir (Tendulkar) sir, Virat (Kohli) bhai, and Rohit Sharma—have inspired a generation that is beyond.  No. If we hadn’t won the World Cup in 2011, would I still be as excited? Maybe, maybe not. Sports keeda cited Gill as saying, “These kinds of legacies are eternal; you can’t really define them.”

If we hadn’t won the World Cup in 1983, Sachin Tendulkar might not have been born.

In addition to what he did in the 16th edition of the cash-rich league, Gill got his first set of hundreds in both the long and short versions of the game. The bowler from Punjab was also an important part of India’s home season when he became the fourth Indian player to hit a double-hundred in a 50-over match.
