The Women's World Cup leave Bangladesh, Nigar Sultana is "really hurt."

The captain of Bangladesh’s women’s team, Nigar Sultana, voiced her displeasure about the Women’s World Cup 2024 being moved from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates. Sultana and her squad will now be denied the opportunity to compete in a major international tournament in front of their ardent home fans.

Because of the socio-political unrest in the nation, Bangladesh has seen turbulent times recently. The International Cricket Council (ICC) was compelled to relocate the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates due to travel restrictions in multiple nations.

Sultana claimed that while individuals attempted to clarify the rationale for the venue change, she had been in a state of mourning for a few days. The batter-wicketkeeper mentioned that she and her teammates were thrilled to represent their country in front of their home supporters.

At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Nigar Sultana told reporters, “For the last two days I was really sad and today I seemed a bit free because a lot of people tried to make me understand [the switch] in different ways.”

“To be completely honest, I was deeply upset. I had a lot of dreams, and that wasn’t just me—all the players had the same sentiment, as not only did we wait to represent our nation in the World Cup, but our families, friends, and loved ones also did. They were getting ready for this World Cup in different ways. In my opinion as a player, I lost out on the opportunity to represent my country with pride by competing in the World Cup in front of home fans.

We don’t get to earn that pride,” she continued. From October 3 to October 20, the main event will be held at the two locations in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and Sharjah.
