Following his game-defining, undefeated innings of 76 off 45 deliveries against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 20, Rohit Sharma took to Instagram to express his gratitude to Abhishek Nayar. Ahead of the match against CSK, the former captain of the Mumbai Indians was having a hard spell. But in MI’s nine-wicket victory, he found his groove again.
It makes sense that Nayar, who was just fired as India’s assistant coach, assisted Rohit Sharma in honing his batting style. Notably, the two were recently seen at the BKC facility run by the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Even if it hasn’t been happening regularly, I won’t question myself: Rohit Sharma
Following the match against MI’s bitter rivals, Rohit gave a detailed explanation of his strategy and how he intended to bat at the crease.
“Wankhede desires to take pleasure in quality cricket. After his team’s victory, Rohit Sharma told reporters, “It’s easy to start doubting yourself and start doing different things after being here for a long time.”
“It was crucial for me to strike the ball and practise effectively. It’s been a long time, but you put pressure on yourself if you doubt yourself. It’s critical to balance your preferred style of play. Although it was crucial to maintain the shape and extend the arms, I still wanted to strike the ball today. I wanted to do what I always do if the ball is in the arc. Although it hasn’t been happening regularly, he continued, “I won’t question myself.”
On Wednesday, April 23, MI will play SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. After his performance against CSK, Rohit won his 20th IPL Player of the Match title. He will be hoping to do the same in what should be an intense matchup with the Pat Cummins-led team.
