At the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, India’s top pacer Jasprit Bumrah recently had extensive scans; the results should be available in the coming day. In order to determine his availability for the forthcoming Champions Trophy 2025, the results of these scans will be very important.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma are among the Indian team management who are awaiting word on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness.
A Times of India story states that Jasprit Bumrah’s scans and medical assessment at the NCA will dictate his rehabilitation’s future steps. After a comprehensive evaluation by the BCCI medical team, an official update is anticipated by Saturday.
When the reports are available, it is also anticipated that Dr. Rowan Schouten, an orthopaedic surgeon from New Zealand who operated on Bumrah in 2023, will be consulted. Considering the medical advice, the selection committee will make a final decision about his Champions Trophy participation.
Jasprit Bumrah’s participation in the pivotal match was limited due to back spasms he suffered during the final Test of India’s recent trip of Australia. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) then made the decision to exclude him from the current ODI series against England.
We’re awaiting word regarding his scan: Rohit Sharma
At first, it was thought that he would be well enough to play in the third ODI, but without a board announcement, his name was secretly dropped from the roster. Before the first match, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy was added to the team.
As his scan and other procedures were scheduled to take place in the next days, we are obviously awaiting an update. Prior to the first ODI, Rohit had stated, “We will be able to provide you with more information on his location once we receive that scan.”
The Indian administration is keeping a tight eye on Bumrah’s recuperation process since the Champions Trophy is set to start on February 19. The squad must be finalised by February 12, so the next medical evaluation is essential to India’s tournament preparations.
