Why might New Zealand miss out on the semi-finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup?

With the ODI World Cup 2023 rapidly approaching, many sides have already cemented their dominance from the outset. New Zealand, the 2019 World Cup finalists, is one of such teams; they entered the competition with a lot of fire.

The Balck Caps are currently in third position with eight points after playing six games in the competition. They have managed to win four of those games and have lost two. The team is headed for the competition’s knockout stages, but even with their strong performance, New Zealand’s place in the tournament’s knockout stages is not assured. The Black Caps may have trouble qualifying for the World Cup in large part because of their forthcoming schedule.

In their next three games, New Zealand will play South Africa, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka; winning at least two of these games will put them in the running for a knockout position. Nonetheless, New Zealand may find the matchup with the league leaders Proteas to be challenging and vital.

Additionally, in some circumstances, the match against Sri Lanka can be a must-win; in spite of an injury-plagued campaign, Sri Lanka is still capable of six victories in the group stages. The team’s net run rate is one thing, though, that will please supporters in New Zealand. The Black Caps have a 1.232 NRR after six games, which is really good and might be useful in an emergency.

As they prepare to face Proteas next, New Zealand

Following Australia’s thrilling victory against NZ in a match that will go down in history on October 28 in Dharamsala, the Black Caps will try to gather themselves and concentrate on their upcoming task. On Wednesday, November 1 in Pune, the 32nd World Cup matchup between New Zealand and South Africa, who are now ranked well, will take place.

It could be intriguing to watch which side prevails when the conflict draws near. After losing their last two games, New Zealand will be eager to play better.
