On Sunday, June 16, at the CBRP Stadium Turf Ground, Pakistan and Ireland will play a meaningless match in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Because of the tremendous rain that the area had been experiencing over the past few days, Babar Azam decided to win the toss and bowl first without hesitation. The pitch was under the covers for a considerable amount of time. He said during the toss that Abbas Afridi, a fellow right-arm pacer, will take Naseem Shah’s position in the match.
Naseem Shah bowled with a lot of spirit in the last three games, so it was an interesting decision to leave him out. Nonetheless, the 23-year-old Abbas is thrilled about the chance to display his talent on a large platform.
A single alteration was made by Ireland to their starting lineup from the previous match. Benjamin White, a rookie leg-spinner, replaced the seasoned speedster Craig rookie.
Because the pitch had been kept under cover for a considerable amount of time, Babar estimated that it would have some moisture on it. Despite being eliminated, the right-hand hitter claimed that Pakistan has not lessened their intensity in preparation for this meaningless match.
“Let’s start with a bowl. The pitch has been covered with some wetness for the past three days. Every match requires preparation if you’re a professional. Today we’ll try to play as well as we can. One change has occurred. Babar stated, “Abbas is playing, Naseem isn’t.”

Irish captain Paul Stirling, meanwhile, acknowledged that he too would have chosen to bowl first. The first hitter remembered how, in a recent Twenty20 International Series against Pakistan, his team had taken a 1-0 lead and then lost the rest of the series. He said he was looking forward to the task.
Our course of action would have been to bowl first. There will be a little bit above the covers for a time. Hopefully, we can overcome that and record a point. We scored one run and led the series (against Pakistan) 1-0, but we were unable to win it. With a new setting and perhaps another fantastic game, the World Cup promises. Stirling said, “Young is out today; Ben White is in.”
