At Ahmedabad’s famous Narendra Modi Stadium, Team India (IND) and England (ENG) will square off in the third and final One-Day International (ODI) of the current series on Wednesday, February 12.
Jos Buttler, captain of England, chose to bowl first after winning his third straight toss of the series. Tom Banton was added by the visitors as one alteration to their starting lineup. They accomplished this by resting Jamie Overton, a pacemaker.
However, with minor modifications from the last match, India also entered the fray. Spinner Varun Chakravarthy, pacer Mohammed Shami, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were benched. Chakravarthy was sidelined for this match because of a strained calf, while Jadeja and Shami were rested, according to Indian captain Rohit Sharma. They therefore chose Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Following two games in which we bowled first, I wanted to bat first and score runs. In the final game, it was crucial that we won. With a lot of youthful blood, the fielders did a good job portraying themselves in the last two games. Maintaining our success in the field is our goal. We want to relieve them of the pressure because they are still in the early stages of their professions. Give them the freedom to do what they want; they have a lot of promise. Changes have been made: Varun has a sore calf, and Jadeja and Shami have been rested. Sharma stated at the toss, “Therefore, Washi, Kuldeep, and Arshdeep enter the side.”
As the team prepares for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 later this month, the England captain said the India series has been an essential training ground.
We’re going to start the day by bowling. It might spin a little later, but maybe not much. Today, in advance of the Champions Trophy, will be different because we batted first in the first two games. In the World Cup a few years ago, we faced New Zealand on a black soil surface that performed better in the second half. It’s a respectable wicket. Tom Banton enters the side, so that’s one alteration,” Buttler said during the toss.
