‘Who’d want to bowl there?’ – Pat Cummins pokes fun at Edgbaston pitch after India’s win

Test cricket here and there seem like distinct games. Cummins predicted a good series there.

'Who'd want to bowl there?' – Pat Cummins pokes fun at Edgbaston pitch after India's win

The captain of Australia, Pat Cummins, made a subtle but scathing remark about the Edgbaston pitch after India defeated England by 336 runs in the second Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. India broke through the Edgbaston citadel for the first time in their Test history, led by Shubman Gill.

At the same time as India and England were fighting in Birmingham, Australia was playing the second Test of their three-match series against the West Indies. In the end, the Australians won by 133 runs. In a sarcastic critique of the pitch following the game, Pat Cummins said that nobody would want to be a bowler at Edgbaston pitch.

Pat Cummins stated, “I saw the scores but didn’t watch much of it.”

“We’ll watch that series closely. There, who would want to play bowl? “I’m not shocked that it was the third flattest wicket in England cricket history,” Pat Cummins stated at a press conference following the game.

The Caribbean pitch at National Cricket Stadium was significantly more bowler-friendly, he continued, implying that the surface in Grenada was entirely different from Edgbaston.

As you can see, Test cricket here and there appears to be two distinct professions. There, it appears like the series will be good. 1 to 1.

The Lord’s Test will be quite entertaining: McCullum

Inspired by the ICC World Test Championship final last month, England’s head coach Brendon McCullum revealed that he had discussed his preferences with Karl McDermott, the head ground staff for the MCC. Both Cummins and Kagiso Rabada caused a lot of seam movement at the ground throughout the game, which made it difficult for the batsmen to perform.

“I think it’s going to set up for a cracker – especially if there’s plenty of life in it (the pitch),” McCullum stated, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. “It’ll be a blockbuster either way.”

India and England’s third Test match is expected to start on July 10 at Lord’s, while Australia will try to defeat the West Indies in the last Test of their three-match series, which will start on July 12 at Sabina Park.
