Mitchell Starc, the national team’s star pacer, recently voiced his thoughts on Cameron Green’s exclusion from the team. Notably, Cameron Green had back surgery that ended his season, thus the selectors have a big hole to fill during his absence.
Green’s absence will have an impact on Australia’s pace attack, and the bowling attack will undoubtedly have more work to do in the forthcoming BGT 2024–25.
Australia will be hoping to rely heavily on Green ahead of the international summer, according to recent statements made by captain Pat Cummins.
Mitchell Starc, however, believed that many of the bowling strategy and dynamics would alter with Green out.
“Taking away a true all-rounder like Cameron Green or Ben Stokes for England will always alter the dynamic. cited Starc as stating, “When you have that real all-rounder who has been with a group for a while… you get into a bit of a routine of having that extra bowling option.”
“I’m not sure how that lineup will work; there’s a lot of discussion about Mitch Marsh bowling and the opening position. It’s not wholly unfamiliar. We haven’t got an all-rounder in any of our previous series,” he continued.

It is noteworthy that the bowling attack of Lyon, Hazlewood, Cummins, and Starc has participated in the previous four Border-Gavaskar Trophy. With Green out of the picture, it is anticipated that the four mainstays of Australian cricket will compete again. But this time, the burden was heavier.

In order for both teams to go to the World Test Championship final, which will be held in England in June 2025, the highly anticipated BGT 2024–25 will begin on November 22 with India playing Australia in Perth.
