The West Indies have made minor adjustments to their lineup for the upcoming second and series-ending match after a disastrous performance in the first match against India. On July 20, the two teams will square off at Trinidad’s Queen’s Park Oval with the goal of tying the series at one game each.
The Caribbean team will be hungry to rebound after losing to the Rohit Sharma-led team by an innings and 141 runs in their opening match of the 2017 ICC World Test Championship cycle.While the West Indies have mostly kept the same lineup that lost to India in Dominica, they have added untested off-spinner Kevin Sinclair to their 13-man squad in place of fellow all-rounder Raymon Reifer.
Reifer failed to pick up a wicket in the first Test against India and only managed to score two and eleven runs with the bat in two innings, but he will be traveling with the team to Trinidad and could still be utilized if an injury occurs. In addition to giving West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite another bowling option, the 23-year-old bowler has already participated in seven ODIs and six T20Is for the side. In Zimbabwe, he most recently made an appearance at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier match.
If chosen to play in his first Test in Trinidad, the right-armer from Guyana will presumably pair up with fellow spinner Rahkeem Cornwall. Sinclair caught everyone’s attention with his distinctive wicket-celebration manner, which includes his trademark flips. A three-match ODI series, followed by five T20Is, will take place between the two teams following the end of the second Test.
