Cricket The West Indies men’s team revealed a 15-man roster for their January 2019 red-ball match against Pakistan. The two-match Test series will be the final stretch of the World Test Championship’s 2023–25 season.
The bilateral series that will be played in Pakistan is extremely important to both teams, even if neither is in the running to go to the Lord’s final. The island nation will tour Pakistan for a Test series for the first time in eighteen years in the upcoming series.
On January 2, 2025, the Kraigg Brathwaite-led team is expected to leave for Pakistan. Amir Jangoo, a left-handed hitter, received his first Test call-up after impressing with a game-winning ODI century against Bangladesh. After missing the Test match against Bangladesh, Gudakesh Motie returned to the red-ball setup.
Andre Coley, the Test team’s head coach, defended the selection of the aforementioned southpaws.
According to a press release from Cricket West Indies, Coley said, “Jangoo was selected because of his proven high level of competency against spin bowling and his consistency across formats in regional cricket. Motie returns to the squad to support the spin attack.”
According to reports, Shamar Joseph is still recovering from his injuries, and Alzarri Joseph will not be available because of other commitments.
Coley also clarified the goals he would like the team to achieve on the tour.
“The focus is on building on what we have done well and turning the lessons learnt from 2024 into tangible results for the Test series against Pakistan in January 2025,” Coley continued.
