The West Indies’ team for the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe in June has been revealed.
Keemo Paul, an all-rounder, has been added back to the team after his last appearance for the group was in an ODI in July 2022. Gudakesh Motie, who made an impression during the earlier-in-the-year West Indies Test tour of Zimbabwe, has also been added to the team.
After placing ninth in the Cricket World Cup Super League, the West Indies were relegated to the World Cup Qualifier. South Africa, which earned the final automatic qualification position, is 10 points ahead of them.
Leading West Indies selector Desmond Haynes lauded Keemo Paul after his selection, calling him a three-dimensional athlete who is extremely dynamic on the field. He claimed that the group saw him as a possible match-winner.

Haynes continued by saying that the players are completely aware of their duties. The management is delighted with the players’ approach and preparation, he continued, and everyone is aware of their responsibilities within the team. He added that the competition will unquestionably be difficult.
“They are aware of the task at hand in full. We are pleased with the players’ attitude and preparedness, and everyone is aware of their responsibilities within the team. There is no question that the event will be difficult, fierce, and competitive,” he continued.
Cricket While those chosen for the tournament squad will get ready for the competition with three ODIs against the UAE in Sharjah, the West Indies will give the Indian Premier League (IPL) players time to relax before the qualifier. Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, Dominic Drakes, and Akeem Jordan are the four uncapped players who have been chosen to play in the UAE series in place of those taking part in the ongoing IPL.
Shai Hope, Rovman Powell, Shamarh Brooks, Yannic Cariah, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Gudakesh Motie, Keemo Paul, Nicholas Pooran, and Romario Shepherd make up the West Indies team for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
