“I genuinely cannot give you anything regarding team mix up, whether he is ready or not, we will have to wait and see tomorrow,” Badani said when asked whether there was any news on Faf du Plessis’ readiness for the match.

“The very fact that we have retained him gives you a message that we value him, and the fact that he features in all our games also tells you that he is somebody we think has a massive upside,” the coach remarked in reference to wicket-keeper batsman Abishek Porel’s performance thus far. He has already performed admirably for us this season, and as you can see, teams prefer to have a combination of left-handers and right-handers. His left-handerness provides a great deal of value, and although KL takes wickets, he also has excellent fielding skills.

The Gujarat Titans, the local team, are currently in second place in the standings after winning four and losing two of their first six games.
