We have a huge test coming up against India. Ashleigh Gardner

Both Ashleigh Gardner and her team, the Australia Women, have been playing well in the current Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The reigning winners, though, have not yet guaranteed a place in the semifinals. When they play India at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on Sunday, October 13, they will have the opportunity to do so.

Ashleigh Gardner, an all-rounder for Australia, thinks that facing India in the Women’s T20 World Cup could be a difficult task for both her and her country.

Ashleigh Gardner, who spent a season in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) with the Gujarat Giants and witnessed firsthand the talent in Indian cricket, is cautious of their advantages.

Her versatility has already enabled her to become an essential member of the Australian team. “India presents a formidable challenge to us. They’ll undoubtedly put up a fight with me directly, and we’ve had some enjoyable ones over the years,” India Today cited Gardner as saying.

Can India make a repeat of its 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup comeback?

Notably, the Women in Blue’s initial tournament match versus New Zealand ended in a crushing loss of 58 runs. Following this surprising outcome, Harmanpreet Kaur and company’s remaining games essentially became elimination matches. To stay in the competition, the Women in Blue have defeated Pakistan by six wickets and Sri Lanka by 82 runs thus far.

After three matches, India has two victories and one loss. They will need to defeat Australia and hope that either of their remaining matches against Pakistan or New Zealand ends in a mistake.

India Women have a +0.576 advantage over their opponents and might advance to the semifinals if the net run rate (NRR) is used. New Zealand would like to increase their NRR in their upcoming games, as it is at -0.050 at the moment.
