Gautam Gambhir talks up on India's obsession with fast bowling all-rounders

Before the first game of the series between Team India and Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, head coach Gautam Gambhir spoke to the media in a pre-match briefing. On September 18, a Wednesday, Gambhir was asked a series of questions, to which the New Delhi native provided some astute responses.

Names like Mohammed Shami, Rajat Patidar, and Shreyas Iyer have been left out of the picture ahead of the upcoming series’ team selection for a variety of reasons. The head coach, however, remained steadfast in his assertion that the management of the squad chooses the best lineup that is available at that particular moment rather than naming players.

“I believe that effective communication is the most crucial factor. See, we never let anyone down. We choose only the top 11 players. As reported by The Telegraph, Gambhir stated, “We think and do the job for that particular Test match.”

Because I share a changing room with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, it’s easier to get along with them: Gautam Gambhir

In addition to many other topics, Gambhir was questioned about his role as head coach and his interactions with players such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Notably, Gambhir and Rohit and Kohli were formerly teammates, and he feels that this has made it easier to build a friendship with the senior pair.

As a coach, it’s still early days. The bright side is that I have experience playing with those guys. during one point, when they were younger and still developing into seasoned people, we were sharing the changing room,” Gambhir remarked during this pre-game press conference.

Sometimes it gets much easier than developing a relationship when you have that kind of relationship. The jobs are now distinct. The kind of relationship we can develop over the course of the next few years. We have enormous hurdles ahead of us, so we should keep moving it forward a little bit at this time. It will be very significant, he continued.

Gautam Gambhir puts an end to rumors of fabrications

The 42-year-old added that even though he has previously gotten into fights with some of the more experienced players, those incidents were resolved before he even entered the locker room. In addition, the head coach stated that neither he nor the other players care much about anything else when they are passionate about playing or representing India. When representing a team or a unit, the former cricket player believed that one’s heart must be in the proper place.

People have occasionally raised a lot of ruckus over these issues. However, that is untrue. I get along really, really well with every member of the dressing room crew.

“I believe that the location of the heart is more crucial. I believe that a lot of things might become easier when there is passion. I believe that when we step onto the cricket pitch, the drive to win is present every single time. Thus, I believe we’ve gotten off to a great start,” Gambhir said.
