We are only concerned with what needs to be done, not with predictions: Tom Latham

In advance of the 2023 World Cup start, acting captain Latham remarked, "Yeah, I think from our point of view, I'm sure, like most teams, we're not necessarily focused on what people are predicting."

We are only concerned with what needs to be done, not with predictions: Tom Latham

On October 5, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, New Zealand will play host to the opening match of the ODI World Cup 2023 against England, which will be captained by Jos Buttler. Given that India is hosting the event, supporters have voiced their opinions about which team has the best chance of winning the trophy. The Blackcaps, it appears, are unaffected by the noise outside. Tom Latham, the stand-in skipper for New Zealand, spoke up to discuss the issue and said that the team only thinks about what it needs to achieve and that it has its own expectations of the players.

Yes, I believe that from our perspective, we are probably not overly concerned with what people are anticipating, just like most teams. Tom Latham was quoted by India Today as saying, “From our perspective, we’re entirely focused on what we have to achieve.

Our primary focus is the style of cricket we want to play at this World Cup: Tom Latham

Furthermore, according to Latham, New Zealand has been concentrating on the style of cricket they will be playing at the World Cup rather than on expectations.

“The brand of cricket we want to play at this World Cup is our main focus, and if we’re in that position when it comes towards the end of the tournament, then that’s great,” said Tom Latham.

We just want to come here and play some good cricket, play our brand of cricket, and if we do that, we know we’ll give ourselves a good chance of being there in the back end of the tournament, he continued. “But if we can play our brand of cricket in these conditions, which is obviously completely different from the last two ODI World Cups being in Australia and England, so we just want to come here and play some good cricket, play our brand of cricket,” Tom Latham.
