Watson won the IPL 2019 final despite having a bloody knee that no one on his team knew about.

Over the years, we have seen both franchise cricketers and foreign cricketers give their all to help their team win. In the past, Anil Kumble played against the West Indies with a broken jaw, Graeme Smith played with a broken thumb, and Virat Kohli played against the Punjab Kings with multiple stitches on his hands. These are just a few examples of how players do unusual things to get the job done. Shane Watson played in the 2019 finals of the Indian Premier League with a bloody knee, which is an example of this kind of thing.

Notably, Chennai needed 150 runs to beat the Mumbai Indians at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and win their fourth title in history. Faf du Plessis opened the game with Watson, but he only got 26 runs and went back to the pavilion as the middle and lower middle orders fell apart under pressure. Watson, who used to play for Australia, fought like he was a one-man army. He got 80 runs off of 59 deliveries, but that wasn’t enough to help Chennai win the match.

Fans at the stadium and on social media were furious because MS Dhoni’s team lost the game by just one run. Jasprit Bumrah got two wickets for Mumbai, and Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, and Lasith Malinga each got one.

My head says GT, Watson, but my heart says CSK.

After missing out on the prize in 2019, the Chennai Super Kings won it in 2021, and they are almost ready to win it again in 2023, which would be the fifth time they have won the title. Notably, the four-time winners will play Gujarat Titans on May 28. Before that game, Shane Watson said that his heart tells him CSK can win the trophy, but his mind tells him otherwise.

“My heart wants CSK, but my head wants GT. I hope that MS Dhoni and his team win their fifth title and that my heart wins out over my head. It will be a big deal, so cross your fingers. “Whistle Podu,” Watson said in his Instagram video.
