Em Arlott hit the ball towards the pads and at a decent length. Danni Wyatt-Hodge was positioned in the deep midwicket area, which was where the star hitter flipped the ball. She went for the catch first. But she found that catching the ball was a little too tough.
On Monday, May 26, in the third and final Twenty20 International of the series, England Women defeated the West Indies Women by at least two runs thanks to a spectacular save by Danni Wyatt-Hodge near the boundary ropes. The home team ultimately won the game by 17 runs to sweep the series against the visiting team 3-0, proving that their efforts were not in vain.
During the West Indies’ chase, the fielding attempt in question took place on the third ball of the thirteenth over. The 2016 Women’s T20 World Cup champions were struggling and lacked momentum after losing three wickets while chasing a score of 145. Despite Matthews’ strong batting performance, the needed run rate kept going up.
The standout England player made amends with her outstanding fielding performance after recording a golden duck earlier in the game. Wyatt-Hodge saved runs for her team by pushing the ball back towards the field. In the meantime, Matthews scored her second score of 50 or higher for the series.

The West Indies could not overcome the top batter’s final score of 71(54). She was rightfully named Player of the Series for her all-around efforts, and for the entire series, she was almost the team’s lone warrior.
Earlier in the game, Matthews claimed 3/32 with the ball, getting rid of important batters including Amy Jones, Sophia Dunkley, and Nat Sciver-Brunt. The standout player took three wickets and scored 177 runs in the three series matches. The Player of the Series Award went to Matthews, even though England Women won the series 3-0 via pure dominance.
