At Bristol’s County Ground, Luke Wood dismissed Evin Lewis for a first-ball duck on the opening ball of the second Twenty20 International in the ongoing England vs. West Indies series. Wood became the third bowler from England to claim a wicket from the opening ball of a Twenty20 International. Lewis, however, became just the second hitter from West India to be out on the opening ball of a Twenty20 International.
Luke Wood delivered a flawless inswinging yorker that thudded into Lewis’ right boot, ending the southpaw’s career.
Without hesitation, the on-field umpire raised his finger. Lewis chose to contest the ruling upstairs because he believed he had gotten a piece of a bat onto the ball. Replays, however, indicated that the bat may have struck the ground rather than the ball.
