[WATCH] ‘Let me speak in Urdu, please!’ – Mohammad Rizwan asks to skip English at toss after fan trolling

While Karachi Kings won the match by chasing down the 235-run target with four balls remaining, Mohammad Rizwan stole the show with his amazing century in the opening match of the Pakistan Super League 2025 for the Multan Sultans. James Vince responded with another century at the National Stadium in Karachi on April 12. But prior to the match, Sultans captain Rizwan also attracted attention by speaking to the toss in Urdu, which is his preferred language.

It appears that the request to talk in Urdu coincided with the intense criticism he has been receiving for his poor English communication abilities. The incident started when the team captained by David Warner chose to bowl first at the Karachi deck after winning the toss. Rizwan immediately begged to reply in Urdu rather than English when the toss presenter asked him to speak after losing the toss and his unfiltered views.

“I want to speak in Urdu, please!” Mohammad Rizwan made a request during Saturday’s toss.

“Basically, when a tournament begins, you are not as constrained by things like the pitch report or the state of the ground, and you are unable to make any firm statements because we are unsure. But this is the first time I’ve seen so much grass on a Karachi ground, especially for a Twenty20 match. We joined the tournament with the intention of succeeding by analysing the match scenario and playing appropriately. That is what is currently going through our minds. Thus, we’ll attempt to score a high score on this pitch,” he explained (in Urdu).
