With Josh Inglis scoring 20 runs in the fifth over of the innings against star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, Punjab Kings (PBKS) got off to a scorching start in their run chase against Mumbai Indians (MI). Who will play Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 Final on June 3 will be determined by the outcome of the high-stakes Qualifier 2 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
When MI’s Bumrah was brought on for the fifth over of the powerplay, PBKS had Inglis and Priyansh Arya at the crease as they chased a target of 204.
Josh Inglis took on the seasoned pacer right away without exerting any strain.
Inglis utilised the angle to send the ball racing to the boundary after flicking a delivery wide of mid-wicket on the opening ball of the over. A slower off-cutter outside off was delivered by Bumrah after a couple of balls, but Inglis raced ahead and sent it over long-on for a six.
He beat the square leg defender to get another four on the fifth ball of the over, piercing the in-field once more. He slashed a short-of-length ball that was pitched outside off to end the over in style. The top-edge finished a 20-run over by flying past the highest fielder on the pitch, Reece Topley, at third man, for another maximum.
Pressure? What pressure? 😏

MI had previously scored 203 for 6 in the game. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav both scored 44 runs with fluid strokes. Naman Dhir added 37 off just 18 deliveries, and Jonny Bairstow added 38 from 24 balls. Azmatullah Omarzai took two wickets in his four-over performance for PBKS.
To secure their spot in the IPL 2025 Final, PBKS must chase down 204 runs. MI, however, will be hoping for a win to get one step closer to winning their sixth IPL championship.
