At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, during the IPL 2025 final between the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kyle Jamieson trapped Rajat Patidar dead in front. When Patidar registered 26 off 16, he had to walk back to the shed.
The Kiwi pacer’s change-of-pace delivery was what worked. Patidar shifted across in an attempt to work the ball on the on-side, but he missed it as it dipped slightly on him. The RCB captain was hit squarely in the line of stumps, so he didn’t bother to review.

Jamieson’s second wicket was Patidar. Shreyas Iyer made a brilliant catch while back-pedaling from mid-on earlier in the game, dismissing Phil Salt (16 off nine) on the fourth ball of his opening over. Prior to this, PBKS chose to field first after winning the toss. Both teams used the same starting lineup as their earlier matches.
After crushing the Iyer-led team by a commanding eight-wicket lead with 60 deliveries remaining in Qualifier 1, RCB advanced to the 18th IPL summit match. However, in Qualifier 2, PBKS defeated the Mumbai Indians by five wickets to advance.
With regard to the league phase, both teams finished with 19 points. Due to a higher net run rate than their rivals (+0.372 vs. +0.301), PBKS secured the top spot. Both teams had nine wins, four losses, and one game that ended in a no-result because of bad weather. The current match is the first T20 league final for RCB and PBKS since 2014 and 2016, respectively.
