In Match 70 of the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, bowler Nuwan Thushara of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scored an early goal against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). After winning the toss, RCB captain Jitesh Sharma decided to field first, replacing Lungi Ngidi with the Sri Lankan in the starting lineup.

Early in the current IPL 2025 match in Lucknow, Thushara helped their team win the game.

Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Breetzke were at the crease as the RCB rookie arrived to bowl the third over of the powerplay. He was searching for the yorker when he bowled Breetzke an away swinger. However, the right-handed hitter moved away on the drive after the ball was determined to be a low full-toss. Breetzke’s off-stump flew away after he missed the ball entirely.

Thusara, a fast bowler from Sri Lanka, has a similar slingy-arm bowling motion to Lasith Malinga, whom he idolises. He is a great pacer in T20 cricket because of his reputation for hitting yorkers with perfect accuracy. He has taken 26 wickets at an economy rate of 7.65 in 18 games while playing for the island nation.

In addition to Thusara, RCB substituted Liam Livingstone for Tim David, who was injured. In addition to Aiden Markram leaving the team to participate in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, the home team brought in Digvesh Rathi following his one-match suspension.
