Prior to the highly anticipated five-match Test series against Eng, which serves as the kickoff for both teams’ 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, the India men’s team arrived in the UK on Saturday, June 7. Star players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin all retired from the longest format, therefore new captain Shubman Gill will be leading a relatively young team on this tour.
The Indian team landed in the UK during the weekend after leaving Mumbai on Friday. The BCCI released a behind-the-scenes film that captured the team’s emotions during their journey and at London’s Heathrow Airport. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah, the top pacer, was making fun of Gill’s decision to wear sunglasses at night in the video. B Sai Sudharsan, a rising batsman who received his first Test call-up, said he was looking forward to the trip.
Being a member of the Indian Test team excites me. The child in the video said, “Welcome to the UK.”

Notably, there is always a sizable throng at team hotels or airports patiently waiting for the Indian squad whenever and wherever they go. But this time, reports indicate that there were only a few fans and a small group of media people present to greet the Indian team as they landed in London.
India will play India A in a four-day warm-up match before to the start of the series. In addition, a number of other team members were already in the UK, playing in the India A matches and getting used to the local environment. Historic English locations Headingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Lord’s and The Oval (London), and Old Trafford (Manchester) will host the five-Test series from June to August 2025.
