Wasim Jaffer's assessment on India's wicketkeeping possibilities before the ODI series: "It could be both of them"

After sweeping the West Indies in the two-match Test series, team India will now be preparing to face the Caribbean nation in a three-match ODI series that will start on July 27. It may be intriguing to observe how the Indian squad assembles their lineup to face the Shai Hope-led team before the ODI series.

The role of wicketkeeper may come up for discussion with the upper management now that the batters are set in the lineup. Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are two prominent players who have the ability to perform at the highest level behind the wickets for the Indian side.

There has been considerable conjecture over who will be the stumper for India with the ODI series just around the approach.

Wasim Jaffer, a former cricketer for India, recently spoke up to offer his perspective on the matter.

Jaffer speculated on the potential lineups and suggested that both Kishan and Samson might be selected in India’s ODI lineup for the series. Additionally, according to Jaffer, Samson might be given the opportunity before Kishan because the games could be critical for Samson with the World Cup approaching.

“Both Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson could be to blame.

They will be put to the test in that manner until the World Cup team is chosen. In this series, Sanju Samson may have the first opportunity, and the games going up to the World Cup are crucial for him. They have Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill there, and Ishan Kishan bats at the top of the order, so he might not have the chance right now. Wasim Jaffer told ESPNcricinfo, “I feel they will be picked up whoever gets the chance and whoever seizes that chance.”

It is important to note that on Thursday, July 27, the Kensington Oval in Barbados will host the inaugural One-Day International between the West Indies and India. On Tuesday, August 1, the third and last ODI of the series will be played.
