Regarding the current One-Day Internationals (ODI) series between Sri Lanka and India, another significant setback has been suffered. Their star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the rest of the series due to the latest development. A hamstring injury that may have happened during the first ODI on Friday, August 02 in Colombo is the cause for Hasaranga’s dismissal.
The Lankan Lions are already without Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana, and Dilshan Madhushanka from their bowling outfit, so this is a major blow. Due to their individual injuries, the three players were unable to make the 50-over team. The most experienced bowler on the Sri Lankan team and a strong force have thus been eliminated from the crucial series.
As for the home team, Jeffrey Vandersay is the player taking Wanindu Hasaranga spot; however, there hasn’t been an official confirmation of this yet.
Vandersay, a leg-spinner himself, bowls similarly to Hasaranga in terms of technique. He is by no means a tried-and-true or reliable bat addition, though.
In the first game, Hasaranga had made an impression on the hosts by taking three significant wickets in an exciting match that ended in a stalemate. That being said, his batting contributions were minimal. The leg-spinner will be sorely missed by the island nation for the rest of the series, even if he has had a strong run of late. The second ODI will determine whether or not both sides win the series.

Regarding the second game, AccuWeather.com’s weather forecast indicates a 70% chance of precipitation in Colombo during the match, so it is likely to be interrupted by rain. The captain who wins the toss will consider bowling first if the rain causes the game to be postponed or shortened, since it is usually preferable to be aware of the DLS par score in such situations.
