Because of his brilliant performance in the first game in Ranchi, Virat Kohli is already the main attraction of the current ODI series.
The great batsman hit 11 fours and seven sixes in his spectacular 135 off just 120 balls on Sunday. His impressive century helped India reach a dominant 349 runs and was a key factor in the team’s 1-0 series advantage.
By surpassing Sachin Tendulkar for the most hundreds by a player in a single format, Virat Kohli added another milestone to his record-breaking run with this knock. With a quick 57 and a solid 136-run opening partnership with Kohli, Rohit Sharma too contributed significantly. India’s resounding success in the first ODI was made possible by their stance.
India has planned an optional training session for Tuesday afternoon in preparation for the second match. The players are allowed to decide whether or not to play based on their workload and recuperation requirements after arriving in Raipur early after the first game.
India will be keen to win the ODI series in a spectacular manner and get a result that will bolster their confidence after losing the Test series against the Proteas 2-0. On Wednesday, December 3, India and South Africa will play their second ODI.
