The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has included Virat Kohli in its list of 84 likely participants for the forthcoming Ranji Trophy season. Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is also there, in addition to Kohli. It will be Kohli’s first appearance for the state since 2012 if he makes an impact for Delhi in the forthcoming season.
Following the release of the list, the 36-year-old’s old video, in which he discussed an unhappy episode, went viral. For Delhi, Kohli made his Ranji season debut in 2006–07. The reliable batsman disclosed that, around one in the morning, he received notice that he had been dropped from the team. He disclosed the rationale for his father’s decision to withhold payment and force his kid to perform.
“There was a moment in my life when I had the chance to play for the Delhi Under-14 squad. However, due to a few issues, I was dropped at one in the morning. You know how things work at the state level. Speaking to Dinesh Karthik, Kohli stated, “Someone was preferred over me because of some compensations that were done and stuff like that.”
My father was also given the same opportunity to join the team after two games, if at all possible. Without delay, my father declared, “I will not give him a single penny to play.” It’s not meant to be for him if he can’t capitalise on his skill. Thus, that stayed with me,” he continued.

Not likely to play for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy is Virat Kohli.
However, the Ranji Trophy ended up being the impetus that shaped the career of the young Kohli. He hit 90 against Karnataka the day after his father died away in December 2006. In 2012, he made his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi against Ghaziabad.

However, given the timing of the Test series against New Zealand, it seems unlikely that the player will feature in the upcoming season.
