In the current Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways, the final delivery of the 24th over of the first innings caused what were likely the loudest shouts the Arun Jaitley Stadium had ever seen. After No. 3 Yash Dhull was dismissed, Virat Kohli, the best Indian batsman and Delhi’s own, moved out to the middle. Nevertheless, Kohli’s tenure was short—15 deliveries for six runs, to be exact.
Then, with his team struggling at 86/3 in 27.4 overs, Delhi captain Ayush Badoni emerged. He was aggressive right away, hitting two consecutive boundaries off right-armer Kunal Yadav. In the opening over, Ayan Chaudhari’s fourth delivery was pinged for a maximum.
Karn Sharma’s first two overs went for a total of 15 runs, with Badoni hitting two fours and scoring two boundaries in Chaudhari’s second over. After 34 deliveries, he reached his third First-Class half-century. Delhi was at 168/4 in 42 overs around lunchtime.
It is painfully short for Virat Kohli.
Badoni, in his 80s, was unable to withstand Chaudhari’s left-arm spin as he sped into the 90s with a four and two sixes in one over. But it was not to be as Karn got Badoni to top-edge a crazy sweep, but the fielder caught the ball at short fine-leg, and the Delhi skipper missed a well-earned century.

Himanshu Sangwan has been the most cost-effective bowler for Railways. Earlier in the day, he reviewed Sanat Sangwan’s and Kohli’s defenses.
