According to reports, Virat Kohli has notified the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of his intention to retire from Test cricket prior to the June 20 commencement of the five-match series against England. After assisting India in winning the T20 World Cup in Barbados last year, the 36-year-old decided to retire from Twenty20 international cricket.
The BCCI administrators are making every effort to get Kohli to change his mind about retiring. Recent reports, however, indicate that the former captain of India remains steadfast in his demand to withdraw from the game’s longest format.
Amid rumours that Virat Kohli is retiring from Test cricket, the official page of the County Championship, England’s top domestic first-class championship, has made fun of him. They posted a video of England seamers taking advantage of the circumstances to take wickets in the home championship. In Test cricket, Kohli has been in terrible form lately. Only 190 runs from nine innings at an average of 23.75 were scored by the Delhi batsman throughout the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which ended in January.
“We don’t blame you Virat,” was the description for the video posted by County Championship.

The England Test record of Virat Kohli
In England, Kohli’s batting record is not particularly impressive. He has amassed 1,096 runs at an average of 33.21 in 17 Test matches for the European country. He has amassed two tonnes and five half-centuries, with a peak score of 149 in Birmingham in 2018.
Given that Rohit Sharma has declared his retirement from the format, Indian supporters would be eager to see Kohli participate in the Test match against England because his expertise will be vital.
