Legendary footballer Lionel Messi’s eagerly awaited GOAT India Tour has begun, while former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has returned to India. Shortly after India’s three-match ODI series against South Africa ended, Virat Kohli was seen travelling abroad and arriving in Mumbai with his wife, Bollywood star Anushka Sharma.
Fans have been speculating about a potential encounter between the two international sporting icons since Virat Kohli comeback.
Messi is expected to reach Mumbai on December 14 after landing in Kolkata on December 13. He will be attending a fan interaction session at the legendary Wankhede Stadium. Due to the fact that both celebrities are in Mumbai at the same time, there has been a lot of excitement on social media over a possible meeting between Virat Kohli and Messi, something football and cricket fans have long wished to see.
But Messi’s first day in India did not go according to plan. At Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium, thousands of fans had flocked in the hopes of seeing the Argentine superstar, but they were let down when Messi allegedly left the stadium ten minutes after they arrived. The crowd became irritated after the brief appearance, and the situation eventually turned into chaos within the stadium.

According to eyewitnesses, Messi was unable to finish his intended loop around the pitch because of extreme traffic. Politicians, event organisers, celebrities, their families, and a plethora of photographers surrounded him as soon as he took the pitch. Messi’s interactions with the fans were severely limited as the situation swiftly went out of control and forced his security staff to completely quit the lap.
Tensions among the supporters increased as word got out that Messi would not be playing for very long. In the hopes of having an unforgettable experience, many had come early in the morning and purchased expensive tickets. Parts of the audience reacted furiously and questioned the event’s preparation and crowd control when Messi left the pitch in less than ten minutes.
Protests erupted within the venue, resulting in the throwing of bottles, damage to hoardings, and the need for security forces to step in. The incident has sparked worries about fan access and event planning for high-profile international tours, particularly when worldwide superstars like Lionel Messi are involved.
