Star batter Virat Kohli has replied vehemently to recent criticism regarding his T20 strike rate as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) prepare to play Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a match that could determine their playoff berth.
When addressing sceptics, the former captain of the Royal Cricket Club frequently lets his bat do the talking; yet, on this occasion, he did not hold back either. Kohli has faced criticism recently for his strike rate in the first few games of the current Indian Premier League.
Sunil Gavaskar’s criticism of Virat Kohli for his outburst against experts who had doubted his T20 skills prior to the World Cup selection intensified the criticism. The two titans engaged in a furious verbal spat when Kohli responded to Gavaskar.
“I don’t need to respond in any way. On the ground, I know what I can do. Nobody needs to know what kind of player I am or what my skills are; I don’t need to tell them. I never sought advice on winning a game (for my team) from anyone. I’ve learned it the hard way through failure and a variety of experiences. Nothing about this is accidental. Alright, so you or the team won one or two matches. However, if you are winning consistently while standing there, it cannot be a coincidence, Kohli stated to JioCinema.

In spite of the controversy, Kohli was still included in the Indian team for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be hosted in the USA and the West Indies. With 661 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 155.16 in 13 innings, the 35-year-old has also topped the IPL 2024 run-scoring records.
After a dismal season debut, RCB is brimming with confidence. They have won their last five games after suffering seven consecutive losses in their opening eight games. Nonetheless, the reigning champions, who just prevailed over the Rajasthan Royals in their previous match, will be a difficult foe to defeat.
