Virat Kohli, the famous Indian cricketer, has discussed his thoughts on the India-Australia rivalry, his child, and why he enjoys challenges against the Australians in any format. For his whole professional career, Virat Kohli has been a constant threat to Australia.
According to Virat Kohli, he used to be inspired by the Australian conditions of the past and how the players would constantly show up against the Indians in their aggressive forms. He also mentioned which Indian cricket players inspired him.
“When we used to get up early to watch Test cricket in Australia as children, I used to think, ‘Wow, if I can step up in these conditions and against this opposition, that’s something I could be proud of as a cricketer.'” Watching the ball fly off the pitch and the opposition in your face was quite impressive. I watch all the greats of our game from both sides for that reason. Speaking to Fox Cricket, Virat Kohli said, “I really looked up to guys like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and even Virender Sehwag.”
Virat Kohli acknowledged that the Australian team’s forceful and outspoken demeanor motivated him to treat them with the same zeal when he arrived on the international scene. He conveyed his appreciation for every circumstance that he encountered while playing in Australia, which helped him become a more resilient person in general.
“Even the Australian setup, their style of cricket, and their constant in-your-face tactics, intimidating and dominating the game, were things that truly motivated me to come here and follow suit. I am truly thankful for all those moments because they helped to shape me as a cricket player and as a person. In the beginning, I found it simpler to watch on television than to be in that unpleasant environment. That truly puts your mental toughness and fortitude to the test because, once you start stealing from the crowd, you can’t get away and have to return every day,” he continued.
After retiring from Test cricket in May of this year, Virat Kohli also talked about how much he has enjoyed spending time with his family. According to the star hitter, he has been enjoying his time away from cricket.
Since my retirement from Test cricket, I have been taking a lot of time off. I was simply catching up on things. I haven’t been able to do much for, I think, years, except be able to spend time at home with my family and children.
Virat Kohli said, “It’s been a lovely phase and something I really enjoyed.”
It wasn’t a good time for Kohli to return to international cricket. After being called in to bat first by the Mitchell Marsh-led team in the opening ODI of the three-match series, he scored an eight-ball duck for India.
