Virat Kohli merits a great deal of credit for RCB's IPL 2023 starts: Sunil Gavaskar

On blockbuster Monday of IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings will meet at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in a highly anticipated Southern Derby. Each season, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni will face off in one of the most anticipated matchups of the tournament. In addition to the combat for supremacy between the two teams, the batting prowess of Kohli and Dhoni at this venue adds depth to this IPL rivalry.

Virat Kohli was RCB’s man-of-the-match in their previous IPL match against the Delhi Capitals, and the talismanic batsman will be eager to put forth his best effort against CSK.

Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar deemed Virat Kohli electrifying starts in the IPL 2023 a positive omen for RCB.

Gavaskar stated on the Star Sports Cricket Live Show, “Virat Kohli is giving RCB flying beginnings to the beginning of the innings. He deserves a great deal of credit for the starts RCB is receiving and the runs the team is able to score as a result of those starts. These are favorable omens for RCB.”

Gavaskar also lauded MS Dhoni, captain of the Chennai Super Kings, for the manner in which he is guiding the team and how his penchant for rescuing the team in crucial moments makes him the greatest captain of all time.

“The Chennai Super Kings are adept at escaping difficult situations. This has only been feasible due to MS Dhoni’s leadership as captain. Captaining 200 games is a rigorous task. It is a burden to captain so many games, and it may have affected his performance as well. But Mahi is different. He is a unique commander. There has never been a commander like him, and there never will be again,” Gavaskar continued.

Meanwhile, on Super Sunday, both the Mumbai Indians and the Rajasthan Royals triumphed in their respective games with thrilling contests and outstanding victories.

The Mumbai Indians defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders with a clinical performance to earn their second win of the season. Aditya Tare, a former Mumbai cricketer, stated that the five-time IPL champions have finally discovered the winning combination this season after the Mumbai Indians’ consecutive victories.

“MI have now found the combination that can win them matches and consolidate their position in the points table to remain in the playoff race,” Tare said.

The Rajasthan Royals accomplished a historic run chase and handed the defending champion Gujarat Titans their second consecutive home defeat. Rajasthan’s captain, Sanju Samson, led the assault after his team was initially pushed against the wall.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh praised Sanju Samson, stating that the wicketkeeper-batsman exhibits a great deal of maturity in his game. Sanju Samson should be a permanent member of the Indian team in white-ball format because he continues to demonstrate his talent with each passing day.

“Sanju has committed another captain’s strike. I have stated previously and continue to believe that he should be a regular member of the Indian national team (in white ball format). He handles spinners and pace bowlers equally well. He has the ability to absorb duress and a strong will. “Like MS Dhoni, he has confidence in his abilities,” concluded Harbhajan Singh.
